We celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week. Time has flown since our wedding day.. and as quickly as its gone, so much has changed in our lives since then.
Steve got me "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", volume 1 & 2 (WHICH I'VE BEEN BEGGING FOR SINCE DECEMBER!), BUT what I loved most is that he gave me a little note, in the shape of a heart, listing all the reasons he is so in love with me.
The things he listed were random. Some were funny, some were crazy sentimental. Most of all, it reminded me of all the things about him that I love so much as well.
This year my goal for our marriage is to go back to some of the puppy love ways that came so easy while we were dating. I think because our relationship moved so quickly in the beginning, we skipped through some of the courting fun that most couples get to relish in. I would never change a single thing about the timing of our romance, but I do know that sometimes I take Steve for granted.
Some of my favorite things about Steve:
1. He is ridiculously patient- IE. When I'm a tired screaming mess in the morning, he wakes up to face the chaos, does whatever he can to help me out, and speaks calmly to soothe me before I run out the door. SERIOUSLY amazing, especially since he's not a morning person either.
2. He knows how to make me feel safe.- For the most part, I consider myself to be pretty independent and self aware. But, the things I struggle with most are usually fears involving the future. I love to plan, I love to dream... but sometimes that creates my biggest downfall. He listens and reassures. He helps to bring things down from Cloud 9, and in turn makes me feel safety in the place that we're at in the present.
3. He is a lover of adventure. Life is always fun with Steve.
4. He is a lover of competition. The Lord knew that I love to compete, I love to play games, and I love sports. Steve is my perfect match in this department.
5. He loves my mom. He accepts me and my family for all their quirks, imperfections, and idiosyncrasies.
6. He genuinely TRIES to help around the house.
7. He is a provider. He loves to shower on me whatever I need, or what our friends need, whenever he can.
8. He is spontaneous.
9. He has a heart of GOLD.
10. He is corny.
blah blah blah.
No one really reads all this stuff.
Bottom line, thank you Steve for these past 3 years of marriage. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, creating new memories, having new adventures, and simply relaxing in your comforting arms. You are the love of my life, the greatest friend someone could ever ask for, and truly a gift from above.

These boots are made for walking... (a Mary post)
Boots.
Black boots.
Brown boots.
Cowboy boots (well not yet anyways).
There is something about a pair of boots and the way they make you feel. I am rocking my brown boots today with a dress. I would take a picture... but I'll let you imagine how awesome I'm looking right now.
Some fun news surround my recent obsession with boots:
This past Thursday I was feeling like POOP. I felt a sinus infection going on, but I knew I had to go to work. Not only am I in the process of kissing major booty in order to become a permanent employee, I also knew that there was going to be a big meeting with one of our top bosses.
I picked a fun black and white belted dress, and passed on the pumps. That morning I bee-lined to my black knee high boots. I was feeling daring, and I wanted to look confident.
That 8:30am meeting started, and I was inwardly feeling like a giant medicine head. I got through the first half painlessly. Then the big boss, lets call him Vinnie, dismissed one half of the crowd.
Vinnie proceeded to address some of his concerns regarding the stress he has picked up on while walking through our department. He called some people out for never taking vacation time. Basically I felt like I was watching an episode of The Peanuts, listening to the teacher talk, "wah wah wah wah wahhhh wah wah wah."
Who knows how much time went by, but at some point there was dead silence in the room and Vinnie was looking me square in the face.
"So what exactly do you do?" (Vinnie)
My mind went completely blank.
I began stammering.. " uh uh uh I file, and uh uh copy... and uh uh fill in wherever they need me."
I looked like a maniac. I work overtime. I do a lot. But I was like a dear in headlights. I was thinking if only he saw my time card while he was interrogating me, he would wonder what I do for 50 hours a week.
We were dismissed, and I went back to my desk feeling pretty defeated. My managers stayed behind to continue the meeting without us lay folk.
About 15 minutes went by, and then I noticed my managers walk back into our department. Next thing I know Vinnie is heading straight over to my desk.
"So I heard you have a degree. Where did you get it from?" (Vinnie)
"UCF"
"In history, huh? Why did you chose that major?" (Vinnie)
"Well it was something that I enjoyed."
"I understand that, see me and you are in the same boat. My degree is in cooking, and yes I said COOKING! We both have very unconventional degrees, and yet look at us in this industry."
At this point I was looking pretty dumbfounded. So he continues...
"So are you ready for a challenge? Are you ready for us to stretch you and teach you?"
I just nodded my head like a bobble head, probably with my mouth wide open since I couldn't breathe out my nose.
He then pulls me over to where my managers were congregating.
"Raise your right hand..."
and I did
"She promises to do whatever you guys want her to do in order to grow with this company... and of course with more responsibility comes more money." (Vinnie)
What..... more money!!!! I had a million thoughts shooting through my mind, but at that point I could tell we were done, so I just walked like a zombie back to my desk.
I went though my lunch break tormented by what had just happened. As a matter of fact, at that point I still wasn't sure what happened.
After lunch my manager approached me at my desk. She said, "so if you haven't assumed already, we're going to start the paperwork to make you permanent."
Sweet hallelujah!!!
But it gets better. "we're also going to give you a promotion."
Ya'll, life is good! I'm finally going to be treated and paid like I have a diploma.
Yes, this story has nothing to do with the boots, but I figured I would tell it anyways.
God is good! I needed this encouragement. I love my job, and now I'm going to love it more.

check check 1, 2
Well here we are, posting our business for the rest of the world to see. It was just a matter of time before we decided to join the blog world to share with our friends and family the general nonsense that goes on in our lives.
That’s all for the first post; more to come soon.
