Love grows

We celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week. Time has flown since our wedding day.. and as quickly as its gone, so much has changed in our lives since then.

Steve got me "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", volume 1 & 2 (WHICH I'VE BEEN BEGGING FOR SINCE DECEMBER!), BUT what I loved most is that he gave me a little note, in the shape of a heart, listing all the reasons he is so in love with me.

The things he listed were random. Some were funny, some were crazy sentimental. Most of all, it reminded me of all the things about him that I love so much as well.

This year my goal for our marriage is to go back to some of the puppy love ways that came so easy while we were dating. I think because our relationship moved so quickly in the beginning, we skipped through some of the courting fun that most couples get to relish in. I would never change a single thing about the timing of our romance, but I do know that sometimes I take Steve for granted.

Some of my favorite things about Steve:

1. He is ridiculously patient- IE. When I'm a tired screaming mess in the morning, he wakes up to face the chaos, does whatever he can to help me out, and speaks calmly to soothe me before I run out the door. SERIOUSLY amazing, especially since he's not a morning person either.

2. He knows how to make me feel safe.- For the most part, I consider myself to be pretty independent and self aware. But, the things I struggle with most are usually fears involving the future. I love to plan, I love to dream... but sometimes that creates my biggest downfall. He listens and reassures. He helps to bring things down from Cloud 9, and in turn makes me feel safety in the place that we're at in the present.

3. He is a lover of adventure. Life is always fun with Steve.

4. He is a lover of competition. The Lord knew that I love to compete, I love to play games, and I love sports. Steve is my perfect match in this department.

5. He loves my mom. He accepts me and my family for all their quirks, imperfections, and idiosyncrasies.

6. He genuinely TRIES to help around the house.

7. He is a provider. He loves to shower on me whatever I need, or what our friends need, whenever he can.

8. He is spontaneous.

9. He has a heart of GOLD.

10. He is corny.

blah blah blah.

No one really reads all this stuff.

Bottom line, thank you Steve for these past 3 years of marriage. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, creating new memories, having new adventures, and simply relaxing in your comforting arms. You are the love of my life, the greatest friend someone could ever ask for, and truly a gift from above.
